Reviews

"The audiences (of the Brasília Film Festival) simply loved it. It received the biggest ovation since the beginning of the festival. It deserves it. It is a noir story told with rare cinematic intelligence. In a perverse lovers' game, an intricate case involving marital infidelity and manipulation is constructed before the viewer's eyes, like a puzzle. (...) The film is an example of how you can innovate without alienating average audiences."
Luiz Zanin Oricchio, O Estado de São Paulo, 1995)

"Enough heroes and villains! Filmmaker Carlos Gerbase creates, in DEUS EX-MACHINA, a fascinating screenplay where there are only confused and flawed human beings. The characters, each in his own way, have already had every possible incident and accident along the way, and now, without God and without the facility of oracles, they try to find reasons to keep on living and lying."
