(06/May/2001)Shot on HDTV, edited at Casa de Cinema with Final Cut Pro and finished in digital Beta at RBS TV of Porto Alegre, O COMPRADOR DE FAZENDAS / THE FARMS BUYER is ready to go on air. The date will be next Tuesday, May 8th. The program will be shown after Casseta e Planeta, on Globo TV.
Jorge Furtado and Carlos Gerbase's adaptation for television of Monteiro Lobato's short story has an element of metalanguage. The original text tells the story of a family trying to paper over the cracks of a decaying property in order to sell it, but the buyer is a crook. However, he falls in love with the landowner's daughter, wins a fortune in the lottery and actually returns to buy it. Now, the "buyer" is a filmmaker looking for a decaying property to shoot Monteiro Lobato's short story.
THE FARMS BUYER, directed by Gerbase, is a 26-minute episode shot at the Arado Farm, in Belém Novo, in the outskirts of Porto Alegre. The cast includes Marco Nanini, Bruno Garcia, Júlia Feldens, Lúcia Alves, Zé Victor Castiel and Nelson Diniz, and a special participation by Paulo Betti.
