In India, Casa de Cinema wins its eighth award this week

The feature film THE MAN WHO COPIED, a Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre production, has just won another international award. Jorge Furtado was voted Best Director at the Eighth International Film Festival of Kerala, India, and he will receive the Rajata Chakoram (Silver Pheasant) Award. The Best Film award went to the French picture "Abouna", directed by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun. The Popular Jury chose the film “Osama”, a co-production between Japan, Afghanistan and Ireland, directed by Siddiq Barmak.

With this prize, the Casa de Cinema has now received 8 awards (3 national and 5 international) only in the past 8 days. Check it out:

Last Friday, Dec. 12th, Lázaro Ramos (THE MAN WHO COPIED) was voted best actor at the Havana Film Festival.

On Saturday Dec. 13th, THE MAN WHO COPIED won 3 awards in Santa Maria da Feira: it was voted best film by the popular jury, by the critics and by the Federation of Film Clubs of Portugal.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12th, the Association of Art Critics of São Paulo voted THE MAN WHO COPIED best film and CENA ABERTA best television program of the year in Brazil.

On Wednesday, December 12th, at he awards ceremony of the Grande Prêmio Cinema Brasil, HOUVE UMA VEZ DOIS VERÕES (TWO SUMMERS) was given the award for best original screenplay among the Brazilian films of 2003.

And, finally, on Friday December 19th, THE MAN WHO COPIED wins the best director award in Kerala.
