BEST FILM OF THE YEAR according to the foreign critics!

O HOMEM QUE COPIAVA/THE MAN WHO COPIED, a Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre production, written and directed by Jorge Furtado, won the PRÊMIO ACIE DE CINEMA (ACIE Film Award), at a ceremony held last Monday, in Rio de Janeiro. The award was given by the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in Brazil to the most outstanding Brazilian productions of 2003.

The movie, Jorge Furtado’s second feature film, competed in the Best Film category with O Homem do Ano, Carandiru and Amarelo Manga. Hector Babenco was voted Best Director for Carandiru.

ACIE [the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents] is an association of foreign media correspondents in Brazil that has over 130 members from 30 countries, making the ACIE AWARD the equivalent to the “Golden Globes” in the USA. The award ceremony was held at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil.
