SANEAMENTO BÁSICO, O FILME (Basic Sanitation: the movie) awarded by BNDES

SANEAMENTO BÁSICO, O FILME, Jorge Furtado’s fourth feature film, produced by Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre, was one of the 18 projects awarded grants by BNDES (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (National Economic and Social Development Bank)). The list of winners was announced this Thursday, January 19. The project was awarded R$ 500 thousand in production funds. It will be shot in July.

The total funds from the edict amounted to R$ 10 million. Regulations allowed for a maximum grant of R$ 1.5 million per project. However, the Selection Committee chose to split resources even further, ranging from R$ 100 thousand to R$ 800 thousand per grant per movie.

The following were awarded R$ 800 thousand: "Bope - tropa de elite", by José Padilha (Rio de Janeiro); "Cidade dos homens" (City of Men), by Paulo Morelli (São Paulo); "Jardim das folhas sagradas", by Pola Ribeiro (Bahia); "Meu pé de laranja lima", by Marcos Bernstein (Rio de Janeiro); "Miguilim", by Sandra Kogut (Rio de Janeiro); "O Passado", by Hector Babenco (São Paulo); "Tainá 3 - na selva da cidade", by Michael Ruman (Rio de Janeiro); and "União fraterna" by Laís Bodanzky (São Paulo).

The following was awarded R$ 700 thousand: "A Festa da menina morta", by Matheus Nachtergaele (Rio de Janeiro).

The following were awarded R$ 500 thousand: "Andar às vozes", by Eliane Caffé (São Paulo); "Budapeste" (São Paulo), by Walter Carvalho (São Paulo); and SANEAMENTO BÁSICO, O FILME (Basic Sanitation: the movie), by Jorge Furtado (RS).

The following were awarded R$ 400 thousand: "Antônia", by Tata Amaral (São Paulo); and "O Mistério de Irma Vap", by Carla Camurati (Rio de Janeiro).

The following were awarded R$ 200 thousand: "Garoto Cósmico", an animation by Alê Abreu (São Paulo); and "Grande Otelo - Eta Garoto Bamba", a documentary by Evaldo Mocarzel (São Paulo).

The following were awarded R$ 100 thousand: "Brichos" (PR), an animation by Paulo Munhoz and Tadao Miaqui; and "Pixote 20 Anos Depois" (São Paulo), a documentary by Felipe Briso.
