Courses

Between 1989 and 1995, the Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre offered training courses in the audiovisual field: two editions of the course "Introduction to Filmmaking", both in partnership with the Pró-Reitoria de Extensão da
UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul Extra-Mural Department); and a specific scriptwriting course, "Imagens no papel" (Images on paper), held at Escola Leonardo da Vinci.

Political Election Campaigns

From 1992 to 2000, the Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre was in charge of making the TV programs in 5 election campaigns, as well as political party programs outside the electoral campaigns, always for PT (Partido dos Trabalhadores) and their coalition partners in the Frente Popular (Popular Front).

Events

In 1996, the Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre joined the Porto Alegre City Council Department of Culture and SESC to hold the International Conference "O Cinema do Fim ao Começo" (Cinema from End to Beginning), which brought the Italian filmmaker Ettore Scola to Porto Alegre.

However, the only event promoted regularly by Casa de Cinema since its foundation, in 1987, is the traditional End of Year Party of the Casa, which is already part of the cultural agenda of Porto Alegre.

Programming

Since August 2001, the Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre has been working in partnership with Centro Cultural Santander on the programming of Cine Santander, the new alternative film theatre of Porto Alegre, with 100 seats, Dolby digital sound, air conditioning and a selection of the best films that are not shown in the commercial circuit.
