THE PROJECT

The “Tolerance” project started in the end of 1995, the year Carlos Gerbase wrote the first version of the screenplay. Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre spent three years raising funds for the project through the Audiovisual Law (a federal law of fiscal incentives for investments in the arts) and the Lei Estadual de Incentivo à Cultura (a state law of fiscal incentives for investments in the arts). “Tolerance” is a project of the Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre, founded in 1988, and renowned for its extensive audio-visual production, which has won many prizes in Brazil and abroad.

The Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre, presently formed by its members Ana Luiza Azevedo, Carlos Gerbase, Giba Assis Brasil, Luciana Tomasi, Jorge Furtado and Nora Goulart, is also a film distributor, having a significant share of the recent film production of Rio Grande do Sul in its collection. The main investors in “Tolerance” are: Copesul, RGE, CRT, Ferramentas Gerais, Josapar, A. J. Renner Bank. The film is distributed by Columbia Tristar Filmes do Brasil, which has also invested in the sales of the film, thus becoming a partner of Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre, taking “Tolerance” to movie theaters throughout Brazil.
